Howl-O-Scream 2010 Haunted Houses:
Nightshade Toy Factory: Son of Nightshade - 9/10
This house was my favorite with lots of good scares and even better than last year effects. It takes on a new home in a building built specifically for it due to construction on the old location. This house is sure to entertain anyone and has effects all around you so look out!
MyX: Revenge Rocks - 7/10
After going through part of the house with the scream cam, I was really excited to see how it would play out. To be honest, this house had very few scares but the actors did a good job and the story line is great too! It shows you alot about the back story of Sylvie and MyX.
Delta Epsilon Delta: Extreme Rush - 8/10
This house was relatively the same as last year with a new anthem MyX style which is played throughout the house. It had a few startles but was overall very entertaining. If you are looking for scares then I would check out Trapped in the Walls or even Deconstruction but if you are looking for some amusement then this is the house for you. Look for one of the former icons in this house. ;)
Trapped in the Walls: Ghost Chasers - 9/10
I didn’t go in this house last year so I can’t say it’s similar to last year but it was well executed. As you journey into the house it gets more and more intense. The actors in the house were great while I was there and made it seem like they truly weren’t going to let you leave. Scares came from not only the sides of you but a few above to which got me every time.
Taste of Blood: A Different Vein - 7/10
This house was decent compared to the others. The best part for me was at the beginning with the sewer guy with the rats and squirrels all over him. He was very interactive and a good actor. After this, I thought the subway station theme was really great too. It was too dark to really get the sense of vampires being present in my opinion.
Death Row: Vengeance No Escape - 8/10
This house has such a good theme with amazing actors and effects in it. The inmates scared almost everyone around us including me! It uses great effects and it’s hard to describe this house without giving away any spoiliers. It is definitely a must see!
Deconstruction: The Doctor is Out of Control - 8/10
Before I begin on this house I have to point out that the crowds I encountered probably affected my view of the house. It was very bloody and gory this year which made it great! The only downside for me was the crowds which stopped a few times and spoiled the upcoming scares for me.
Howl-O-Scream 2010 Scare Zones:
Xtreme Fanatics – 7/10
This is scare zone didn’t startle me or anyone around me when we went through it but it is a pretty neat idea.
Crazed Love - 9/10
This was my favorite scare zone this year, the actors in it were great and many people were screaming and getting some great scares. One of the actors followed me through the whole zone with a knife taunting me the whole time.
Spiders and Snakes - 8/10
I wasn’t expecting much from this but when I went through the actors were great! They snuck up on you pretty good and it was very fogging and dim lit.
Light of Doom - 7/10
The only thing with this one was house light it was. Other than that I got a few startles and it was nicely themed.
Road Trip-9/10
This was another great scare zone! It is really nicely themed and it larger than the rest too! The actors snuck up on you really good and also had lots of energy! Be sure to check this one out!
Howl-O-Scream 2010 Shows:
MyX Live - 9/10
This show was amazing! The band was great and Sylvie was even better! The crowd was going crazy and she was interacting with them too. The show had a “killer” ending too. This is another must see at H.O.S 2010!
Fiends - 9/10
This show was great as it is every year! Super entertaining and it had some new elements to it too like the Naughty Male Nurses and the awesome Naughty Female Nurses too. This is a definite must see if you haven’t before.
Blood Relations - 9/10
This show was really entertaining too. Similar to Bill and Ted’s at HHN. This show had lots of laughs and great actors that are local talent. It includes parodies to Tiger Woods, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Hannah Montana and more!
Overall Experience:
This year I had a great time at Howl-O-Scream. The houses were great as usually. The shows were superb, great local talent and highly entertaining to say the least! The event is very entertaining and I recommend it to any Halloween fan! The lines for the houses were quite long since it was the Freaky Preview weekend but with the Fright Feast we went to we got front of the line passes and got through all the houses in 2 hours! I will be returning next weekend for the Bleed-Up event.
